NCPC members will present at CADCA's 21st Annual National Leadership Forum in February 2011. "Giving Diverse Youth a Voice in Promoting Awareness in Social Host Ordinances" is scheduled the last day of the conference on February 10, 2011 at 11am.

The workshop will address how many cities across the nation have adopted local Social Host Ordinances (SHO) as one strategy to prevent underage drinking and the lack of knowledge about SHO among the general public. This workshop will also focus on strategies implemented by the North Coastal Prevention Coalition in San Diego County to engage youth in developing multiple strategies to reach English and Spanish speaking residents to inform them of SHO and the consequences of underage drinking. Efforts to recruit and train a diverse group of youth, involve them in the decision-making process, and develop campaign strategies including working with media outlets and retailers will be shared.
