About North Coastal Prevention Coalition (NCPC)

The mission of the North Coastal Prevention Coalition (NCPC) is to reduce the harm of alcohol, tobacco, marijuana and other drugs in the cities of Carlsbad, Oceanside, and Vista through community action, education, support and collaboration.

NCPC’s vision is a connected community where youth are alcohol and drug-free, make responsible choices and reach their full potential.

As a non-profit organization NCPC’s purpose is to promote an alcohol safe and drug free environment within Carlsbad, Oceanside, and Vista. This is accomplished through a collaborative community-wide approach which includes special events and activities intended to promote public support and community awareness to change social norms and policies that contribute to youth access to alcohol, tobacco, marijuana and other drugs.

History of NCPC

NCPC was incorporated in 1993 as the Oceanside Substance Abuse Prevention Coalition. From 1998 to today, the Coalition has partnered with Vista Community Clinic (VCC) to provide administrative and fiscal support.

NCPC continues to earn recognition for its efforts by being awarded national recognition from the Community Anti-Drug Coalitions of America (CADCA) and the National Association of State Alcohol and Drug Abuse Directors (NASADAD). These efforts have continued the work to advance effective prevention policies and strategies at the local level, such as Social Host and Responsible Beverage Sales and Service ordinances.

Since 2009, NCPC has held an annual 420 Remix event to give a new meaning to ‘4/20’ as a day for youth to engage in fun and anti-drug prevention activities.

NCPC Board

The Coalition is governed by a nine (9) member, and up to four (4) alternates, Board of Directors. Officers to the Board include a President, Vice President, Secretary and Treasurer.
